Ingredient eaglewood
Oud is not made to order. It takes injury, decades and chance. When the Aquilaria tree is attacked, it produces resin. Deep in the wood. Slowly. Only a fraction of all trees go through this process.
The resinated eagle wood is distilled - often only once in the life of a craftsman. Each batch is unique. Assam, Cambodia, Borneo, Sumatra - they differ radically in colour, density and fragrance profile.
The old wild stocks have disappeared. Modern plantation woods now achieve remarkable quality, but the depth and maturity of genuine wild distillates remains unrivalled. Synthetic attempts fail precisely because of this complexity. The natural resin carries a maturity that no laboratory can replicate.
Oud connects cultures, traditions and beliefs. At Nebiru, we consciously select every batch. We check the origin and know the distillation process. Oud stands for what time moulds - and what cannot be accelerated.
The alchemy
of sandalwood
Natural sandalwood is not just an ingredient - it is the liquid memory of perfumery. Extracted from the golden heartwood of the santal tree, the oil carries the tranquillity of South India and Australia. Its fragrance? A promise of soft cream, buttery warmth and a depth that calms the pulse.

True quality requires patience. Only after decades of slow growth does the tree give us its soul. Distillation is an act of precision: only through experience and exact temperature control can we preserve the velvety profile. Sandalwood is the invisible softener in the composition. It binds other raw materials, gives them stability and envelops the entire work in a warm, harmonious structure.
Ingredient
Rose
The rose is not an ornament, it is the origin. Damascena and Centifolia carry morning air, honey warmth and a flavour that does not want to be pleasing. Their oil comes from patience and manual labour - from thousands of blossoms harvested at first light. Those who choose real rose decide against shortcuts. At Nebiru, we look for oils that show depth, allow change and give balance to compositions. Strength and delicacy in one breath.
Ingredient
Castoreum
Castoreum is one of the classic raw materials of historical perfumery. Dark, leathery, smoky - with a resinous warmth that gives structure to compositions. Originally an animal secretion, today it is a carefully used absolute from controlled stocks. In small quantities, it creates body, tension and that quiet animalism that gives great leather fragrances their signature. At Nebiru, Castoreum is synonymous with craftsmanship and consistency - for fragrances that have depth and character.
Ingredient
Hyraceum
Hyraceum is not created in a laboratory, but in time. Over centuries, the deposits of the cliff slip collect in crevices in South Africa, oxidise under the sun and air and condense into a resinous mass. The resulting absolute smells warm, leathery and dry - with nuances of tobacco, wood and a fine animal depth. Without any animal suffering, yet full of character. At Nebiru, we source each batch consciously and process it in small quantities. Hyraceum stands for grounding, for substance - for materials that are allowed to age and gain expression in the process.
Ingredient
Ambergris
Ambergris is not made to order. It is created by chance. The waxy substance forms inside the sperm whale as protection, finds its way naturally into the sea and is transformed there over the years by the sun, salt and currents. Its fragrance carries a maritime expanse, a warm, almost translucent animalism and the quiet clarity that holds compositions together. As a natural fixative, it connects, rounds off, lends depth - without imposing itself. Nebiru only uses certified flotsam. Ambergris stands for that which moulds time and refines patience.
